What About Jesus?

If you’re not covered by the blood of Jesus and filled with the Holy Spirit, we won’t cast demons out of you.

Why not?

Matthew 12:43-45 says, “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none. Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order. Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.”

When a demon is cast out of a person who is empty, even if their life is now in order, the demon can re-enter and bring more demons so the person is worse off than before! It’s the blood of Jesus that seals us and the Holy Spirit that fills us that can stop the demons from reentering after they lose their legal right to us.

If you don’t know if Jesus is your Lord and Savior, then that’s step one. A person can call themselves a ‘Christian’ and be in church/synagogue/place of worship their whole lives and yet still not know if Jesus is their Lord and Savior.

Romans 10:9 says “If you confess with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”        It’s literally that easy.

Does God even exist?

A watch with moving parts has a creator. A piece of art, a building, a vehicle all have creators. From the universe to the smallest cell and molecule, creative design is obvious. The creator is God; a higher being outside of ourselves. And we are created in His image!

He is also Judge of the universe and we will be judged according to His standards (the 10 commandments). If we’ve ever lied, cheated, stolen, etc. then we’ve missed the mark (this is called sin) and deserve punishment. All of us have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Not one of us is perfectly righteous (Romans 3:10). So, what do we do?

Fortunately, God made a way and His name is Jesus.

God loves us so much that He sent His only begotten Son to the earth to bear the punishment for our sins. (John 3:16-17). And if we believe in His Son Jesus, we will pass over out of death and into eternal life. Jesus died for our sins and bore the punishment Himself. Then, God raised Him from the dead – overcoming death and hell and taking back the authority that satan had stolen from mankind. (That’s why Jesus had to come in the form of a man on earth to take back what was rightfully ours – that God had given us in the first place!). Now, Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father. But, He sent His Holy Spirit to help us and guide us in living right before Him. When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we get to live forever with Him and not die an eternal death in fire with satan because we rejected Jesus and followed satan. The choice is ours. God doesn’t send anyone to hell. Jesus said literally ‘over my dead body.” But He still lets us CHOOSE whether we want to spend eternity with Him or away from Him.

How to Receive Jesus as Lord and Savior

If you want to have assurance of your salvation and spend eternity with the God of real, righteous love, joy, and peace, say,

“Jesus, I believe that God sent you to earth to die for my sins. I believe that He raised you from the dead. Please come into my life. I receive you as my Savior and as my Lord.”

If you prayed that prayer, then Congratulations! Your Spirit has been reborn, and your name is written in the Book of Life!

Welcome to the Family of God!

What’s next?

We are a 3-part being. Spirit, Soul, and Body.

When we receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, our spirit immediately becomes ‘born-again’.

We then enter into a season of renewing our Soul (our mind, will, and emotions). This is where the continuous work happens – renewing our mind daily.

Our body is flesh and will stay here on earth when our spirit departs to heaven. Our body is a sanctified vessel that carries our spirit – much like a vehicle carries a passenger. The body needs care and nourishment to function properly and last a long time but won’t be going with us when we cross over into the spiritual realm.

Let’s focus on mind renewal:

  1. Get a Bible and start reading it. (Preferably a version like English Standard Version, Amplified, etc.) Start reading in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John). All the Gospels will tell you more about Jesus. They’re written differently and you’ll likely understand one more than the others.
  2. Ask Holy Spirit to indwell you. The Holy Spirit is literally the Spirit of God, sent to reveal things to us, guide us, and comfort us. Ask, “Holy Spirit, please abide and dwell (take up permanent residence) in me and make me new.” Ask Holy Spirit to reveal things to you. Holy Spirit LOVES for us to ask questions!
  3. Get around other Bible – believers who are Holy Spirit filled. Other Holy Spirit filled believers will help sharpen, challenge, and encourage you.
  4. Start or continue your healing journey – with a therapist, ministry, and/or us. Healing our mind, will, and emotions is key to renewing our mind and clearing out old patterns so we can hear Holy Spirit better.
